In market news, the volume of U.S. sponsor-related M&A deals has been declining fairly consistently since October 2016, while the number of U.S. sponsor-related deals has been more variable. Global sponsor-related M&A activity across the same time period exhibited a similar decline in dollar volume. Meanwhile, U.S. sponsor-backed exit activity has been weaker in the number of exits so far in 2017 compared with the last quarter of 2016, though the value of exits has been comparable. In the last two months, U.S. private equity fundraising soared, compared to the previous nine months.
