General Atlantic Agrees to Sell Shares in Qualicorp to Carlyle Group
Announced today, Paul, Weiss client General Atlantic has agreed to sell one hundred percent of its shares in Grupo Qualicorp (Qualicorp) to The Carlyle Group (Carlyle) for an undisclosed amount. The shareholders of Qualicorp, a market leader in brokerage, consulting services and management of private health insurance plans in Brazil, has agreed to the sale to allow Carlyle to acquire a controlling stake in the company. The transaction is expected to close in August and is subject to Brazilian regulatory approval. Paul, Weiss also advised General Atlantic in its investment in Qualicorp in 2008.
