Private Equity International (PEI) has named the $1.6 billion investment in Alibaba Group by an international consortium led by Silver Lake Partners the 2011 "Large Deal of the Year" in its March issue. Paul, Weiss represented U.S.-based Silver Lake, an Asian sovereign wealth fund and a Hong Kong-based investment group. The other major investor was Russia's DST Global, a leading international investor in Internet-related companies. PEI's awards are the industry's most comprehensive, and the only ones voted on entirely by the industry. They are independent, with no sponsorship and no panel of judges.
