Paul, Weiss Strikes SEC Settlement for Former Nissan Chair Carlos Ghosn

Paul, Weiss advised former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn in his $1 million civil settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The settlement resolves charges against Ghosn, as well as Nissan and a former Nissan director, related to financial disclosures that allegedly omitted more than $140 million to be paid to Mr. Ghosn in retirement.
The Paul, Weiss team resolved the matter with no findings or admission of wrongdoing, and Mr. Ghosn settled this action without admitting or denying the SEC’s allegations. The SEC settlement expressly permits Mr. Ghosn to continue to contest and deny the factual and legal allegations against him in the criminal proceedings in Japan. Mr. Ghosn and his defense team are now able to focus their efforts on continuing to vigorously fight the criminal case in Japan and pursue his claims against Nissan around the world.
The Paul, Weiss team was led by partners Brad Karp, Michael Gertzman and Kaye Yoshino, and included, among others, litigation counsel Daniel Juceam and corporate counsel Chikara Momota.
