Secretary Johnson Gives Keynote Remarks at Atlantic Council Global Energy Center Event

Litigation partner Jeh Johnson spoke at a virtual event, “Securing the Energy and Critical Infrastructure Sectors From Cyberattacks,” hosted by the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center on December 13. Secretary Johnson gave opening remarks on new cyberthreats posed to the nation’s critical energy infrastructure and assets as the energy system becomes increasingly digital and distributed.

“Cyberspace is the new 21st century war zone,” Secretary Johnson said. “U.S. Cyber Command now exists alongside the combatant commands of our nation’s military. A cyberattack on our nation’s energy sector, or any other sector of critical infrastructure, must be viewed as an attack on the nation itself, warranting a national response.”
