Description of Program and Relief

Nonprofit Relief and Recovery Grant

The Missouri Department of Economic Development has established through the CARES Act, The Nonprofit Relief and Recovery Grant which provides up to 22 million in funding to nonprofits to support their efforts in assisting vulnerable communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants provide essential funding supports to nonprofits who continue to serve as essential community lifelines during the emergency and public health crises created by COVID-19.

Applications will be accepted in two waves, with the first wave providing grants to nonprofit who serve the most vulnerable populations. Applicants must be able to show that the COVID-19 public health crisis has created an increased demand for their services or has impacted their ability to adequately provide services thus leading to increased costs or anticipated costs during the time period of March 1 to November 15, 2020.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The program is available to Missouri based businesses organized as 501(c)(3) and exempt from taxation under Section 501(a) in existence for one year or more prior to March 1, 2020. Applicants cannot include hospitals, hospital foundations, and schools, however, faith based organizations may participate if they do not engage in inherently religious activities as part of the programs, require participation in religious activities, or discriminate against participants to receive services. Applicants must show that they experienced incurred costs or anticipate incurred costs between the time period of March 1 and November 15, 2020.

Application Deadlines (If Applicable)

Two application waves:

Wave 1:

  • July 22, 2020 to August 14, 2020 for 501(c)(3

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofits primarily providing services redressing the effects of COVID-19 on disadvantaged populations covering homelessness prevention, job training, food insecurity, at-risk youth services, childcare, and educational support..

  • Wave 2:

  • August 19, 2020 to August 28, 2020

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofits who provide services in areas other than those listed above who have been negatively affected by the effects of COVID-19.
