Description of Program and Relief
Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC)
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is designed to provide supplemental food assistance and nutrition education to low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five. In addition to providing healthy supplemental foods, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support, the program also provides referrals to other health, welfare, and community-based services. Although there is no specific guidance related to COVID-19, women and children may be eligible if they meet the general eligibility requirements.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, claimants need no longer appear in person to apply for or collect benefits.
