Business Request for Designation as an Essential Business During the COVID-19 Closure

Businesses that are not covered by the guidance provided here may request an opinion from Connecticut’s Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) as to whether they can be considered essential and keep their physical locations open during the state-mandated closure to protect against COVID-19.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

A listing of businesses that are considered essential and may remain open during the closure are here. They include, for example, healthcare services, infrastructure, grocery stores, food manufacturing and distribution, and many others. Requests by businesses to be designated as essential should only be made if they are not covered in the listing linked above.
