Description of Program and Relief

ADOT Eases Certain Truck Weight Limits for Delivery of Essential Supplies

As of April 7, 2020, commercial trucks in Arizona with gross weights of up to 90,000 pounds will be allowed to operate without overweight permits (an increase from the previous limit of 80,000 pounds).

The Arizona Department of Transportation also reopened two long-closed rest areas near Flagstaff, Christensen rest area on Interstate 17 and Parks rest area on Interstate 40, exclusively for commercial vehicles.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The temporary weight limits apply to commercial vehicles that are providing direct assistance to COVID-19 relief efforts, including the delivery of medical supplies, supplies for community safety, and food and household items for emergency restocking of stores, among other essential items.
