Paul, Weiss Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced today that Jeannie S. Rhee has been appointed managing partner of the firm’s Washington office. Jeannie previously served as deputy managing partner of the office alongside Kannon K. Shanmugam, who recently became co-chair of the Litigation Department and will become chair of the Washington office.
In her role, Jeannie, who also serves as co-chair of the firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Protection group, will assume responsibility for managing the firm’s 110-lawyer Washington office, which is home to market-leading practices in Supreme Court and appellate litigation, congressional investigations, white collar and regulatory defense, cybersecurity and more.
Jeannie has long been recognized as one of the nation’s leading lawyers in trials, internal investigations and other civil, white collar and regulatory matters. She is also a founding member of the firm’s Civil Rights and Racial Equity Audits practice, one of the first of its kind. Among numerous other accolades, Jeannie has been recognized as one of the Top 250 Women in Litigation by Benchmark Litigation (2020-2023); a “South Trailblazer” by The American Lawyer (2022); “Woman Lawyer of the Year” by the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia (2020); and a leading lawyer by Chambers in the Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations (District of Columbia) category (2022-2023).
Recent wins by the Washington team include a landmark pro bono victory against the Proud Boys on behalf of D.C.’s historic Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church; a major bench trial victory on behalf of Oracle in a high-stakes copyright infringement dispute with Rimini Street; and a major Second Circuit victory on behalf of Goldman Sachs in a long-running securities class action, among others.
