Dealmaking Likely to Get Busier in 2024, Rob Kindler Tells CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street”
October 3, 2023
Corporate partner Rob Kindler discussed the current M&A market and outlook for 2024 with David Faber on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” on October 3.
Currently, increased antitrust scrutiny of dealmaking continues to dampen enthusiasm for doing deals in Europe and in the United States, Rob notes. “There are deals that are not being done because people don’t want to take on the risk and time,” he says. At the same time, other M&A actors have been emboldened by recent losses by the FTC in its enforcement actions.
Looking ahead, Rob sees a busier year in 2024, though nothing like the record-breaking pace of 2021. Generally, “I think we’ll get back to a more normalized level,” Rob says, while noting that the U.S. presidential election creates additional uncertainty in the market.
