Lucha Libre FMV Announces Production and Network Deals

Lucha Libre FMV LLC, a joint venture formed between Paul, Weiss client FactoryMade Ventures and the owners of the lucha libre professional wrestling promotion AAA, announced a production deal with Mark Burnett's production company, One Three Media, and a network deal with the El Rey Network. El Rey intends to broadcast a weekly one-hour series featuring a new lucha libre league, premiering in the second half of 2014.

In Mexico, Lucha Libre is hugely successful, rating behind only soccer as the most popular sport on television. Lucha libre marks a return to arena-based sports events for Burnett, who previously produced five seasons of the unscripted boxing series "The Contender." Burnett and One Three are also widely known for programs like "The Voice," "Survivor" and the miniseries "The Bible." In May 2013, El Rey, created by the acclaimed film director Robert Rodriguez and FactoryMade, was represented by Paul, Weiss in connection with a strategic investment in El Rey by Univision Communications.

The Paul, Weiss team advising Lucha Libre FMV and FactoryMade in connection with the Burnett transaction included corporate partner James Schwab; entertainment partner Charles Googe; and tax partner Jeffrey Samuels.
