Corporate counsel Laura Schnaidt was featured in a Hedge Fund Law Report article on her recent move to Paul, Weiss. The article, “Former In-House Counsel and CCO Laura Schnaidt Joins Paul, Weiss,” discusses her plans to delve into fund formation work at Paul, Weiss; her previous experience as in-house counsel at various multibillion-dollar private fund managers, most recently as GC and Chief Compliance Officer at Blue Torch Capital; funds trends like evergreen funds and perpetual capital; and Women in Funds, a social and philanthropic organization Laura founded.
“When you have been in-house, you see things that outside counsel will probably never see because you need to deal with it immediately, and it maybe never even gets to the outside counsel,” Laura told the publication. “In terms of how the business operates, you can’t really understand that unless you’ve been in that seat and see how everyone interacts and how operationally things are put into place. Giving legal advice is one thing; actually putting it into practice and implementing it is another.”
