Three Paul, Weiss Deals Named China’s 2012 Deals of the Year

The China Business Law Journal (CBLJ) has recognized three Paul, Weiss transactions as Deals of the Year. Each year the magazine awards deals deemed the "most important, most complex, most innovative or otherwise most noteworthy" across 12 categories. The publication recognized Paul, Weiss's work in the following three categories:
- M&A deal of the year - Inbound & domestic: for CITIC Capital Holdings' strategic investment in China Cinda Asset Management Company, where we acted for Citic Capital Holdings Limited and certain other investors;
- Joint venture deal of the year: for China Media Capital, Shanghai Media Group and Shanghai Alliance Investment's joint venture with DreamWorks Animation SKG to create "Oriental DreamWorks," where we were international counsel for DreamWorks Animation; and
- Take private deal of the year: for Alibaba's repurchase of Yahoo!'s stake and related financing issues, where we advised Silver Lake, an Asian sovereign wealth fund and a Hong Kong-based investment group on their follow-on investments in Alibaba to finance the buyback of Alibaba shares from Yahoo!.
