- January 16, 2014
As reported in The American Lawyer, Bloomberg News and IP Law360, a federal court jury awarded Paul, Weiss client Edwards Lifesciences $393.6 million after it found that Medtronic Inc.'s CoreValve transcatheter heart valve infringed Edwards' patent. The jury found the infringement to be willful, which allows Edwards to seek enhanced damages of up to three times the jury award for past infringement. In addition, Edwards will move for an injunction prohibiting future CoreValve manufacture and sales in the United States.
The Paul, Weiss team representing Edwards Lifesciences included, among others, retired litigation partner John Nathan, litigation partner Catherine Nyarady and counsel Kripa Raman.
