ABA Publishes Report on Building Public Trust in the Criminal Justice System Written by Paul, Weiss
February 3, 2017
The American Bar Association's Task Force on Building Public Trust in the American Justice System released a report about criminal justice reform. The report urged the ABA and other bar associations to encourage the adoption of best practices for community policing, build consensus about needed reforms and educate the public about how the criminal justice system works. The Task Force was created in July 2016, following shootings by and of police officers that widened the gulf of mistrust that exists between law enforcement and many communities. Litigation partner Ted Wells served as the chair of the Task Force, which included representatives from law enforcement, prosecutors' offices, the judiciary, state and federal government, law firms, nonprofits and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. The Paul, Weiss team also included litigation partner David Brown and associates Charles Hamilton, Luke Murumba, Kaveri Vaid, Malcolm Wells, Christopher Andrews and Alexandra Gordon.
