June 1, 2023
Cybersecurity and Data Protection Co-Chairs John Carlin and Jeannie Rhee and litigation counsel David Kessler discuss insider threats in a Law360 expert analysis column published on June 1. In “5 Insider-Threat Reminders After Recent DOJ Prosecutions,” the authors highlight recent criminal prosecutions related to insider incidents and, leveraging their experience investigating insider threats while working for the U.S. government, offer key takeaways for public and private sector entities to mitigate insider risk and respond to insider-threat incidents.
The DOJ’s “focus on the national security implications of corporate conduct, including as it relates to insiders, may well lead to much greater scrutiny of companies in which insiders engage in a variety of misconduct, including conducting or enabling cybercrimes,” the authors note.
Litigation counsel Steve Herzog and associates Jordan Orosz and Neil Chitrao contributed to the article.
