Paul, Weiss is Signatory in Partnership for New York City Letter to Governor and Mayor Urging Multi-Sector Initiative Focused on Strategic Recovery of City
September 18, 2020
On September 18, as reported in several news publications, Paul, Weiss Chairman Brad Karp and 176 other business leaders across New York City urged New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to collaborate with them to develop a strategic plan for New York City’s economic recovery in the wake of the unprecedented impacts of COVID-19. In a letter sent under the auspices of the Partnership for New York City, the signatories say that such a strategic plan could serve as a blueprint for urban centers across the country.
“We urge you to convene a multi-sector leadership initiative which can call upon the broadest possible range of resources and expertise to develop plans, policies and implementation strategies for how cities will overcome the challenges created by the pandemic and re-emerge stronger, fairer and more resilient than ever,” the letter reads. “We are fully prepared to support this effort and believe it is critical to ensuring a vibrant future for New York and the nation.”
The letter follows an earlier one addressed to the mayor by Paul, Weiss and many of the same signatories on September 10 pledging their commitment to the city and asking that action be taken on public safety and other quality of life issues that jeopardize economic recovery.
