Jerome Kohlberg to Acquire Vineyard Gazette

As announced on November 26, the Reston family, the longtime owner of the Vineyard Gazette, has agreed to sell the award-winning 164-year-old weekly paper to a limited liability company formed by businessman Jerome Kohlberg. In a separate transaction, a gift has been made to Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust from a fund established by the Kohlbergs to buy and preserve the Revolutionary Warera Gazette building and property on South Summer Street in downtown Edgartown. It is anticipated that the newspaper will continue to operate from the historic building under a lease to be negotiated with the Trust.

The Paul, Weiss team advising Mr. Kohlberg included corporate partners Angelo Bonvino, Charles H. Googe Jr. and Tarun M. Stewart, and counsel Claudine Meredith-Goujon; litigation partner Leslie Gordon Fagen; tax partner Peter J. Rothenberg; personal representation partner Alan S. Halperin, and counsel Andrea Levine Sanft; environmental partner Gaines Gwathmey; and employee benefits counsel Maureen A. Riley.
