Paul, Weiss was recognized for its role in the patent litigation suit Edwards Lifesciences et al. v. CoreValve et al. in the "Big Suits" section of the June 2010 issue of The American Lawyer.
On April 1, 2010 a federal court jury awarded Paul, Weiss client Edwards Lifesciences AG $73.5 million after it found that Medtronic Inc.'s CoreValve ReValving system infringed Edwards' transcatheter heart valve patent. The jury found the infringement to be willful, which allows Edwards to seek enhanced damages of up to three times the jury award for past infringement.
The Paul, Weiss team representing Edwards Lifesciences included litigation partners John Nathan and Catherine Nyarady, counsel Kripa Raman, associates Brian Egan, Joseph Etra, Christopher Terranova and Robert Weinstock; staff attorneys Michael Pinelli, Mike Ecker, Maria Gabelica and Swatee Jasoria; and paralegals Jose Maldonado, Daniel Levi, Lori Morgan, Olu Akinyemi, Shauna Kramer and Joshua Wodin.
