Paul, Weiss Recognized in The American Lawyer for Record Settlement
In the "Big Suits" section of the September 2010 issue of The American Lawyer, Paul, Weiss was recognized for its role in the largest settlement involving an actuarial claim in Alaska Retirement Management v. Mercer, whereby on June 11 Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. agreed to pay the state of Alaska $500 million to settle a multibillion dollar negligence claim. The state alleged that the unit, Mercer Inc. erroneously calculated the liabilities of the Alaska Retirement Management Board, then covered up its mistakes.
