As reported by the AmLaw Litigation Daily and IP Law360, Paul, Weiss achieved a significant settlement in the Southern District of New York for long-time client Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WWI), in its false advertising suit against Jenny Craig, Inc.
Following the successful motion for a temporary restraining order, WWI competitor Jenny Craig, Inc., agreed permanently to cease and refrain from broadcasting, publishing or disseminating its advertising campaign that falsely claimed that Jenny Craig clients lost twice as much weight as those following the Weight Watchers weight loss program. Jenny Craig also agreed to permanently refrain from publishing any similar claims based on a comparison of any studies sponsored by Jenny Craig and any past WWI-sponsored studies.
The Paul, Weiss team representing WWI included litigation partners Lynn Bayard and Martin Flumenbaum, counsel Doug Pravda, and associates Hallie Goldblatt, Michael Grunfeld and Rachale Miller.
