Jeh Johnson and Katherine Forrest Discuss AI and the Law at NYC Bar Association

Litigation partners Jeh Johnson and Katherine Forrest spoke at the New York City Bar Association’s Artificial Intelligence Institute. Secretary Johnson delivered the keynote speech on the potential impact of AI on the 2024 U.S. election and on democracy more broadly. Katherine participated in a panel discussion on “The Use of Artificial Intelligence in the New York Judicial System.”

Secretary Johnson’s speech was also featured in a New York Law Journal article, “‘A Bell That Cannot Be Unrung’: Jeh Johnson Warns Against Threat of AI, Fake Info in Elections,” published on June 10. In his speech, Secretary Johnson noted some potential positive ways AI may be used in an election, such as helping candidates reach voters who speak a different language, but also warned about heightened disinformation risks.

The New York City Bar Association event was held in New York City on June 10.
