Paul, Weiss practice and client solutions manager Toby Franklin, practice innovation coordinator Brian Leon and practice innovation project specialist Arshaad Farrouq won first place at Future Lawyer Week’s No-Code Big Bang Hackathon. Future Lawyer Week is a two-day interactive legal innovation conference that includes a legal tech hackathon. The hackathon was sponsored by Josef, a no-code automation tool.
The Paul, Weiss team received a training on Josef and then designed, developed and tested an app called North Star. North Star is a prototype of a chatbot interview tool to connect law firm associates with specific resources based on their assignments, along with instructional materials and training. The event culminated in a five-minute pitch to the judges, who asked insightful questions about the tool’s scalability and potential for customization. The four judges included Josef CEO Tom Dreyfus, Jeroen Plink and Nicola Shaver, co-founders of LegalTechnology Hub, and Justice Shannon Frison of the Massachusetts Superior Court. Competitors included teams from Simpson Thacher, Mayer Brown, Morgan Lewis and Akerman, among others.
