With experience as general counsel at three Fortune 50 companies, Mike Holston advises boards of directors and senior executives on a wide range of significant legal matters, including “bet the company” litigations, government and investor relations matters, mergers and acquisitions, and crisis communications. He has extensive hands-on experience in both guiding companies through transformative business transactions and managing complex crisis management situations. Mike also regularly counsels corporations and their directors on corporate governance, internal investigations and securities law matters.
Mike previously served as the senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of General Electric for more than six years. While at GE, he helped lead the company through the successful completion of its three-way split and led the company’s global legal, compliance and ethics, corporate secretary, and environment, health and safety organizations. Mike also previously held senior roles at Merck & Co., where he served as executive vice president and general counsel, and Hewlett-Packard Company, where he was executive vice president, general counsel and board secretary.
Earlier in his career, Mike served as a prosecutor in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and was a partner at two other large law firms.
Mike is a fellow with the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and an adjunct professor at Harvard Law School.
