Co-Chair of the Paul, Weiss Litigation Department, Liz Stotland Weiswasser is nationally recognized for leading teams to courtroom victory on behalf of the world’s most important life sciences companies. Liz is known for her ability to marry deep scientific and patent law expertise, and is sought after as a strategic advisor in the life sciences space.
EXPERIENCE
Liz is one of the foremost life sciences litigators in the country. She is lead counsel to some of the world’s most important pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, and has extensive experience in both in federal courts and in inter partes and post-grant review proceedings before the U.S. Patent Office. She has led patent cases across the full range of biopharma technologies, including a wide variety of biologics, small molecules, formulation, drug delivery and methods of treatment. Liz also builds and leads teams in related areas of litigation in the life sciences industry, including in the antitrust and broader commercial areas. Liz’s experience, along with her deep training in molecular biology and biochemistry, has made her a highly sought-after litigator and counselor in the life sciences industry. Liz is licensed before the U.S. Patent Office, where she has long been recognized as one of the leading patent practitioners.
Prior to law school, Liz earned a B.A. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Northwestern University, and did graduate work in molecular biology at Princeton University. Following law school, she served as a law clerk to Judge Alan D. Lourie of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTS
Liz regular speaks on life sciences topics and served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York University Law School, where she taught Biotechnology/Life Sciences Patent Law for seven years.
Liz is deeply engaged in pro bono and community service. She has been honored for her pro bono work by the Legal Aid Society and Westchester Residential Opportunities, for which her team received the Harriett Goldberg Fair Housing Award. She has served on the Dean’s Visiting Committee of The University of Chicago Law School, and on the boards of Montclair Kimberley Academy and The Epilepsy Foundation.
