Paul, Weiss advised Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) in its sale to EQT. This brings together one of the world’s largest private markets firms, EQT, with the third largest in Asia, BPEA, creating a global leader in active ownership strategies. Under the terms of the deal, BPEA received 191.2 million new ordinary EQT shares and €1.6 billion ($1.57 billion) in cash.
The deal, announced in March and completed on October 18, combined BPEA’s strong track record and extensive investment experience across Asia with EQT’s expertise in areas such as sustainability and digitalization. BPEA EQT now has private equity teams based in Beijing, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
