Paul, Weiss Transaction Recognized at ALB Japan Law Awards 2011
A senior debt offering by The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd., a transaction for which Paul, Weiss acted as issuer's U.S. counsel, was recognized as the "Debt Market Deal of the Year" at the ALB Japan Law Awards 2011 ceremony held on June 22.
The transaction consisted of a US$2 billion aggregate principal amount of 3-year and 5-year senior notes, and was offered in the United States in reliance on Rule 144A, with Morgan Stanley, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities and BofA Merrill Lynch acting as joint bookrunners. The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ is the largest commercial bank in Japan. This offering kicked off a series of similar debt offerings by other Japanese issuers throughout 2010.
