In an interview with LEADERS Magazine, firm Chairman Brad Karp discusses Paul, Weiss’s strength and success, noting the firm’s recent, continuing global expansion, and the importance of the firm’s uniquely collegial, collaborative culture, among other topics.
“We thrive on the high-stakes nature of our work. Our standards are incredibly high, but we truly love what we do and we enjoy working together,” Brad says in the “New York” section of the magazine’s October, November, December 2024 issue.
In a year where the firm’s international growth in London and Brussels has made headlines, Brad highlights the firm’s concurrent commitment to its home base and largest office in New York City. He notes the recent lateral and organic growth of the office, home to the largest concentration of the firm’s market-leading M&A, litigation, restructuring and other elite practices. “We have been extremely busy on the M&A front, and our New York office is a hub for much of that activity,” he notes.
The firm continues to be a leader in inclusion and pro bono. Brad highlights that the firm leverages its excellence in both corporate and pro bono matters. “Every day, we bring the top strategists and legal minds together to take on complicated global challenges on behalf of our corporate and pro bono clients. One of those global challenges is the escalation of hate-based extremism and violence,” he says. He notes the launch of the Center to Combat Hate in May, and the critically important work transactional lawyers have been doing with the Robin Hood Foundation, New York City’s largest poverty-fighting organization.
