Paul Ginsberg Named AmLaw Daily's Dealmaker of the Week

Corporate partner Paul Ginsberg was selected as Dealmaker of the Week by the AmLaw Daily on October 23 for his work for private equity fund client General Atlantic LLC in connection with the recently announced acquisition of First Republic Bank from Bank of America. General Atlantic was one of two leading investors participating in the purchase of First Republic, along with Colony Capital LLC.
AmLaw Daily noted that Paul was "one of two vital leaders of a team that got the complex transaction structured and off the ground." Because banking regulations restrict the maximum amount of ownership by investors in a bank without being considered a bank holding company, the deal required a complicated structure that satisfied applicable regulatory requirements. AmLaw Daily also noted, "[i]t was no small task, especially given that the deal was done in only two weeks..."
