Paul, Weiss launched its Legal Health Check-Up Initiative in partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation, New York City’s largest poverty-fighting organization, in a first-of-its-kind initiative that will provide pro bono transactional legal support to several Robin Hood Foundation’s community partners. Paul, Weiss attorneys are providing transactional and operational advice to members of Robin Hood’s Power Fund—a new program that invests in and elevates nonprofit leaders of color and focuses on increasing mobility from poverty while addressing the interplay of racial injustice and economic injustice. The program will also benefit smaller nonprofits with fewer than 50 employees.
Attendees at the launch event included organizations promoting tech literacy for career advancement, advocacy groups for housing justice and nonprofits promoting reading among students of color.
During this session, Paul, Weiss teams conducted a screening to assess and understand the legal needs of each nonprofit based on training materials and guidance developed by Paul, Weiss counsel Jason Tyler and associates Lara Solomons, Dhrumit Joshi and Richard Kennedy. Following the initial session, Paul, Weiss attorneys will evaluate the top two legal needs that each organization faces and schedule a follow-up consultation to go over the organization’s capacity and legal health. During the follow-up session, the attorneys will provide tailored advice, guidance, template documents and recommendations that will assist the nonprofit’s operations and legal health going forward.
The Paul, Weiss team included corporate partners Jonathan Ashtor, Salvatore Gogliormella, Neil Goldman, Brian Grieve, Udi Grofman, Claudine Meredith-Goujon, Raphael Russo, Sarah Stasny, Laura Turano, Michael Vogel, and Lindsey Wiersma; counsel Steve Herzog, Caitlin Kelly, Laura Schnaidt and Jason Tyler; associates Christian Airhart, Alice Blain, David Clements, Kori Cooper, Rachel Cuomo, Bianca D’Agostaro, Oron Eli, Jordan Freisleben, Stefan Geirhofer, Emily Glavin, Daina Goldenberg, Brooke Hensley, Ruel Jerry, Jordan Johnson, Dhrumit Joshi, Cindy Kang, Richard Kennedy, Benjamin Krohnengold, Tim Leung, Noah Marks, Dave Marshall and Evan Yoo.
