The Financial Times has selected Paul, Weiss as one of the 15 most innovative law firms in the United States, Canada and Mexico in its 2014 North America Innovative Lawyers report. In preparing its fifth annual ranking of law firms, extensive interviews were conducted with clients, experts and lawyers. The firm was named a "Standout" in the FT's Social Responsibility/Pro Bono cases category for its pro bono work on behalf of Edith Windsor.
Litigation partner Roberta Kaplan was selected as the Most Innovative Lawyer of 2014. In its report, FT noted that the judges had "little trouble" picking the winner, noting Robbie's "landmark" victory on behalf of Windsor before the U.S. Supreme Court, which FT describes as "one of the most significant civil rights cases in U.S. history."
Bankruptcy partners Andrew Rosenberg and Elizabeth McColm were recognized for innovative legal work including helping creditors recapitalize CEVA Group via a complex U.S., U.K. and Cayman Islands process to keep the company from bankruptcy, and corporate partner Robert Schumer was recognized for his work in advising Time Warner Cable on its all-stock merger with Comcast.
